Glowing lights make for cozy, classy ambiance. Traditional smithy techniques create a wrought iron light fixture. This 6 week class is mixture of fabrication, bending, hot forge techniques and electrical wiring. Mimi will review several chandelier designs for inspiration and style reference. Students are encouraged to do some “research and development”, bring in sketches or pictures form a glossy magazine of a chandelier that appeals to you. You will use this as fabrication inspiration, and incorporate the style into to your project. A selection of chandelier “crystals” will be available to add a bit of bling if you choose. Sit on rainy nights listening to quiet music, sipping cocoa and reading a good book under a beautifully crafted chandelier. Your materials include 6 electrical sockets for candelabra bulbs, more available for purchase. If you choose to skip the electricity and go with the romance of candle light, $75 will be taken off your class fee.
Class includes some classic finish work options such as satin black (indoor/outdoor paint), black traditional patina, clear gloss (indoor), rust (indoor/outdoor), rust with clear top coat (indoor), gold, silver and white paint. Walk out with a completed project ready for installation.
